Service Availability
Many people in the US can get high-speed Internet service -- some can't. We have built a high-speed Internet service locator that will tell you what's available in your area. You can learn the details and benefits of each option, get a service suited for you, and place an order online with service providers.
To provide you with the best information possible, we have included DSL services in addition to cable modem services. Although we believe strongly in the value of cable modems, we also recognize that broadband comes in more than one flavor -- and we want to provide the best option for you.
We also came across this nifty map at the Federal Communications Commission (courtesy of your tax dollars). It claims to show the presence of high-speed Internet providers across the nation, but it only goes down to the ZIP Code level. It's not accurate enough to determine if you can get service, but does show how widespread broadband has become. (Click on the map for a larger size).
There may not be an option at your address. Why the shortage? Access providers are in the process of improving their networks to provide two-way high-speed Internet availability. This includes installing fiber-optic lines and upgrading network hardware -- an expensive and time consuming effort. So sit tight if you can't get service just yet; help is on the way.
