Audio Entertainment
Find and listen to your favorite music artists!
Rolling Stone
The venerable music magazine's Web site has morphed into a prime online resource for news, reviews and other info tied to the international, national, regional and local rock scenes. The site combines content from the mag with message boards, contests, videos, MP3 downloads and Webcasts.
CDNOW
CDNOW does more than let users buy CDs, DVDs and other merchandise. It delivers a ton of music-related content like audio and video interviews of your favorite bands, preview clips of most CD tracks, and CDNOW Internet Radio.
MP3.com
MP3.com features a large library of MP3 files, as well as goodies like MyMP3.com, a personal MP3 storage and management site; RadioActive, which streams MP3s by genre; and the capability to share your favorite MP3s through MP3.com's station. There also are e-zines, concert updates, and for-sale CDs.
CD Universe
Another e-commerce site that sells music, movies, DVDs and games. Beyond that on this difficult-to-navigate site, there's not much more than audio clip previews, screen-saver downloads, and broken links.
eMusic
EMusic.com claims the Internet's largest catalog of downloadable, for-sale MP3 music. It offers an expanding collection of more than 75,000 tracks that be previewed and/or purchased. Individual tracks run 99 cents; entire, downloadable albums cost $8.99.
Launch.com
Launch.com is one of the Web's most comprehensive music sites. Registered users have access to music downloads; more than 4,800 music videos; Launchcast-personalized Internet Radio; e-e-mail concert alerts; celebrity chat sessions; and more.
Listen.com
Through partnerships with sites like Launch.com, emusic.com and CDNOW.com, Listen.com lets you search for and sample music clips of your favorite artists; watch videos; and buy your favorite music online.
Spun.com
Buy and sell used CDs, but you'll have to go somewhere else to hear samples of the tunes.
Live concert broadcasts: Live Concerts
This site does just that: broadcasts live show featuring artists across all genres from all over the world. Check the "Lobby" page for upcoming cybercasts. A note: You'll need RealPlayer.
