My service was disconnected Saturday Morning, I was reconnected Tuesday night. I am impressed how quickly AT&T has handled the migration. I am very happy that AT&T dumped @home, they deserved it!
I did have to make a few changes in my Netgear router settings to get the new service working, but it was minor.
The change happened fast! But the connection is slow. They say in their e-mail “1.5Mbps downstream. This speed setting is part of our continuous effort to provide you with the fastest, most
consistent broadband service at the lowest possible price.” Fastest??? This is much slower than it was prior to changing to attbi.com (who thought or that??) I think they are going to eventually offer basic broadband 1.5Mbps and Expanded broadband back up to 5Mbps, just like they do with there cable tv. Get ready for the price jump! I am actively looking to jump off this ship, untie the cable from my house. I use direct tv for television, this may have been the push I needed to get that cable off my house.
It has been getting worse everyday since they changed over. Today I am only getting about 118kbps down and sometimes less. Yes this is through a cable modem, before I was around 2100kbps. Oh I believe those days are long gone. Time to start shopping for a new ISP.
No doubt! I went from 200-300 KB a second to 30-45 KB a second in less than a week!! I am suspecting that it is due to the HUGE migration of people in my area dropping DSL and getting the Comcast cable internet. My friend has the same cable internet, but in a different part of the city and he gets, all the time, like 500 KB a second, and has even seen it register in MB a second, early in the morning. Crazy, huh? This is Comcast in Little Rock, Arkansas, for the record.
My local cable co. "insightbb" took over in our area in northern Il. my speed has dropped about 100-200kbs. in the primetime hrs. it is barely above dial up speed. tried all the tweaks for xp pro that I could find. Nothing helps. I can't wait for some compitition in the area.
