"Question about USB network"
I recently signed up for cable modem service through COX and was given a COM21 cable modem. It has both a USB and an Ethernet port in the back of the modem. I currently have the modem connected to my laptop through the USB and it works fine. However I want to add another computer to use the cable modem as well. I was hoping I could buy a USB hub, plug the modem into the hub and both computers into the hub and have everything work fine. Will this work? I'm a network idiot and would HATE to have to go buy networking cards for my PC and my laptop.

THANKS!

Kevin-

I am pretty sure it will not work. Of all the hubs/routers/switches I know about I have never heard of setting up a network through a usb hub. I could be wrong but I doubt it.

USB isn't the best way to go anyways, I would suggest ethernet, much more stable.

Depending on how you want to run your network you can just enable microsoft's internet connection sharing (ICS) if you put 2 nic cards in one pc or buy a router, etc. There are several options but the usb hub is not going to do it for you.
