"router vs. hub"
the tech person at road runner told me I need to buy a "hub" to hook up my second computer to my cable modem, but the guy at the computer shop told me I needed a router. Is there a difference between a hub and a router? Will both work and which is the best one to use?
Thank you!

1. "RE: router vs. hub"
there are a few differences but I will be simple. Unless you are paying for more than one IP address from Road Runner you need to buy a router. A router will act as a firewall and allow you to connect as many computers as you want behind it without RR knowing about it. A hub on the otherhand won't do you much good, each computer will be assigned an ip address.

Listen to the guy at the computer shop. Buy a hub and it will just cost you extra money via your isp bills.
