"4 computers, 1 LinkSys router and Road Runner"
I initially connected one computer(XP) to my Cable Modem (motorola) which is hooked up to the computer via of USB. It works.
I purchase Linksys Cable modem router/hub so I connect other computers.
I followed the instructions and plugged the RJ45 cable into the WAN connection on the router. I plugged other computers into the router. The router provides DHCP for each PC correctly. However, none of the other PCs can see internet or ping the gateway or IP of the cable modem. Help?

is your router picking up an ip address from road runner?

A few things to try, powercycle your modem, reboot your router. Give these a try a few times sometimes things stick. Also you could try to clone the mac address of the computer that was working before you switched to the router.

these should get you started in the right direction.

Here is what I did:

4 workstations (2 Win 98SE, 2 Win 2000) into a Linksys 5 port Switch.
Linksys Switch into NIC (#1) on my Server.

From the wall, to the cable modem, from the cable modem to the router, from the router to a second NIC (#2) on my Server/Windows 2000 Server.

On each PC, I configured the DNS address to be that of my ISP's DNS addresses.

Works fine for me.
