"Router Problems" |
I have Win XP on my new Dell computer, and Win 98 on the kids computer. Just got a wireless linksys router. The problem is when I start my computer in the morning it does not want to connect to the internet. This even happens when I restart the computer for any reason at all at any time of day. Not every single time but 9 out of 10 times. I usually get on by unplugging the router and modem for a few minutes so they can reset them selves but why should I have to do this? The problem with the kids computer is it is extremely slow and disconnects and reconnects for no reason when they are online playing games or chatting. Please help!!!!!I have road runner and should be connected all the time. Never had these problems until I decided to hook both computers up for internet access. Also when my son downloads anything on the other computer it is extremely slow. I have also noticed that when my computer is having problems connecting the data light on the toshiba pcx2200 modem is not blinking but just a solid green. I hope someone can help me this is so frustrating and all i wanted to do was to make my kids happy and have them online as well as myself. I downloaded the latest firmware, but it did not seem to help anything.

1. "RE: Router Problems" |
When you say you can't get online in the morning is it because your computer is not picking up an IP address of that your router is not getting one? This would be pretty important to figure out which one it is because it would be a couple of different solutions. Check to see if there is an updated Firmware for your router and update it if there is.>Also when my son downloads >anything on the other computer >it is extremely slow. Right, because you are sharing your bandwidth between the 2 computers. If he is pulling at the maximum speed the other computer will suffer. >I have also noticed that when >my computer is having problems >connecting the data light on >the toshiba pcx2200 modem is >not blinking but just a >solid green. This could be a cable modem problem. I am on RR as well and I have a pcx2500 maybe it might be time to call them and see if they will upgrade you. Just don't mention that you have a router, just say that it is always going solid green for no reason. Mike gunther52@yahoo.com
