"Want to set up one cable modem on 2 computers in house"

Okay,
I am gonna get a charter communications cable modem and I want to set it up with both of the computers in my house. One computer has Windows 98 (first edition) and the other has Windows 95 (first edition). What do I need to get to properily network the computers and the cable modem so both computers can use the modem at any given time? I want to set up a 10/100 cat 5 network between the computers. I want to spend as little as possible and both computers already have NICs.

I recently purchased a Linksys cable router thru buy.com. I set it up in les then 20 minutes. I have three computers in my home that connect to the router and then onto the modem to my cable company. It is the answer to your question..

Good day..yes we are trying to put in a second computer in our home, each will be far apart from each other. Is this possible with just one interenet sever? and what do we need to get started..

I have done this by installing a second network card in my computer and then sending a rj45 wire to my second computer..You must have windows 98 in both machines because it comes with winproxy to make your own network ...it works great
