"SLOW Speeds with Charter Pipeline"
I recently changed over to charter pipeline because of the @Home bankruptcy, and since that time I have been on the phone 23 times with tech support and over 12 hours of hold time and I still can't get an answer on why I am only downloading 40KB when I signed up for the fastest package they have at 1MB. Is anyone else having this problem? What are they telling you is the reason?

Yea they suck (Charter Pipeline) same stuff tell ya there waiting more circuits and lines 3 1\2 weeks + they started 2 months b\4 the change over. Techs say is always SYS administration or NOC everyone I talk to is just getting the same runaround , there just lubing us up for 3 tier pricing to up the profits so they don't go broke like @ home ! 64 kbs down 12 kbs up, 16kbs Usenet used to get 300 to 400 kbs rock steady downloads and 128kbs up and lightning fast newsgroups but not anymore. Going DSL after the first of the year cause they broke there commitment !

I've also had a terrible experience with Charter Pipeline service. There have been numerous system outages, the download rates are 2-3 times slower than a 56K dialup and there doesn't appear to be any relief in sight. I've also heard the line about more T1 and T3 lines on order but they don't know when they will actually be installed. No DSL in our neighborhood yet so I'm considering one of the satellite services.

I cannot recommend Charter Pipeline.

having the same problems, got the 756 package, and I am only getting like 90k, my buddy has the 256 and he gets about 34, they really do suck, they say it decreases throught the lines, that what they keep saying, even the 1.5G/s won't give you 256K.

I am getting about 60K with my Charter Pipeline too. I've heard a couple excuses, like the problem is traffic over the internet, and that my firewall is causing this. It's interesting that when testing using the Charter Pipeline test program, I get very good rates.

Alas, I can't recommend SBC Ameritec DSL. At least the Charter Pipeline has been relatively trouble free. I probably spent at LEAST 100 hrs trying to address problems with SBC. I even spent 3- 5 hours getting my account balance corrected when I dropped their service. At least the Charter has been easily installed, and reliable for me.

I have the pipeline also, I went for their slowest package and I'm pulling down 44kb. I'm happy since since it is a bout 10X faster then my 56k modem.
