I found this file some time ago, and I did try it, but didn't get it to work. Why don't you guys try it and post your test. Remember to post. I don't think it works, but what do you have to lose?

I am using a COM21 modem. The download speeds i get is pathetic (5 to 6 KBps from IE or other downloader).

I tried a lot of registry tweaks no difference. Also after the ISP's bandwidth cap in place i am not even getting a steady stream of 5 KBps downloads. Please Help

Get the Limewire file-sharing program from Limewire.com---use it to find "uncapper" under the program selection. There are literally hundreds of uncapper programs. FUCKUPC is not the only one...and for that matter it sucks. However, I warn you that uncapping is detectible.

Uncapping is virtually impossible short of cutting your modem apart and modifying it to not ask for a cap.. Maybe we should all just shut down our service at once until the Cable-Co's give us some respectable upstream speeds, for that matter, that's what is wrong with most of our downstream speeds. Ever try receiving a file and start sending one at the same time being capped at 128k up? My downloads go from 150k to 20k when I start upping a file at the same time. Maybe we should all jump to DSL just for a while

yes dsl is shit I had it and the upstream was alittle bit better but the downstream fucking blows so do go to dsl. But if any of you guys know how to modify a cable modem so it doesn't have a cap on it I would like to know how to do that because charter is not any better

I use to work for the cable company, and i'll tell you that it is possible to uncap your cable modem. But, before you go out downloading the help tool for it, be warned that everything that you do on your modem is watched very carefully. I worked out of the St louis group and i took a tour throught the facility where they monitor the cable modems. There is a whole group of people that watch and monitor activity on the cable modems. If there is a cable modem that is pulling more bandwith than it should then it throws up a big red flag and a report is created. But, here is the kicker...all it gives is an ip address and the name of the town that it's in. The cable modems assign a simistatic ip address which means that you might keep the same ip for awhile but eventually it will change and the report is no good if you are not caught before the change occurs. There has only been one person in all of missouri that has been caught and that's because he ran a private network from his uncapped cable modem and it gave them a better idea of the area he was in. But if you are just a hacker that wants to do it...that's fine...more than likely you will never get caught. So, yes, you can dup your cable modem in to getting a false DOCSIS by setting your computer up as a TFTP server....have fun hacking...but don't be stupid!

Sounds like crap to me. The cable co still has your MAC address on file. They can easily run a query for a specific MAC address, which tend to NOT repeat on networks. If by some miracle 2 MACs were on the same network, the server would ignore the second MAC. So to recap:

USER + RED FLAG = CHECK MODEM MAC = CUSTOMER ID = SHUT OFF SERVICE

Simply buy a cable modem from someone other than you ISP and they won't have your MAC on file.

WELL BUY A BEST DATA CABLE MODEM ...I GET SPEED OF T2 WITH A GIGABITE ETHERNET CARD/ BUT THEY COST 100 A POP......OR MORE SO TRY MICROWAREHOUSE TO BUY THE STUFF....

Even if you could modify the modem, it would only be a temporary solution. The ISP could still cap bandwidth via software on their end. Now whether or not they are using software to cap bandwidth I don't know.

Does anyone know how they are capping bandwidth? I'd hate to invest time writing a program to re-burn the ROM on my modem, if the cable company is using server side software to cap bandwidth.

Most ISP have found this out and they have now added to the config file that is sent down to the modem. The new config file contains info that if the modem is modified or config file then it will auto- shut down. good luck! Im sure someone will find a way around this.

I find people constantly saying Cable is better then DSL or DSL is better then Cable. When in fact the ISP really determines these factors. In theory (notice the in theory comment) Cable should return a faster download speed then DSL(ADSL) and for uploads you really get nothing from either b/c most of the ISP's I happen to find claim the average user concentrates on downloads vs uploads. However some are gracious enough to offer 256k

There is a way to uncap the modem without no tools. Btw all you guys trying to uncap the modem belive me ISP will catch you.Ain't matter if u change 10 times your cable modem ip. They still have the record who was using the cable modem at what time and your information.If you want to have better speed go get some better job and pay for it. Cable modem uncaping just unplug the pwr from the modem and star to ping the modem then plug it in .....the rest figure out your self coz i aint gonna tell u ~
