looking down the board i see people with huge up and down speeds my cable modem gives me only 15k up and about 60-80kbps down what can i do about this do i share my connection with others that live on my street? can the cable company turn somthing up at their end if I kick up a sink??
go to "www.pcpitstop.com" and do the internet connection test, follow the instructions. I did and now my down speed is 4mb per second and my up is 132kbs. Thats good puts me between a T1 and T3
Yeah, you definitely have a problem, Dave. You should NEVER see below 100KBps, even if you live in a congestion network neighborhood. First, try to use the various tweaks...pcpitstop.com....speedguide.com....this website.....regedit.com.......if none of these work, try to call your Cable ISP and see what they say. If they tell you it is because of a congested network neighborhood, ask them when they will upgrade the lines. Remember, they have an obligation to practice what they preach. My cable provider, (comcast), has recently spent 50 million dollars in my city to upgrade ALL lines to the newest OPTera fiber optics, and it will only get better. The backbone they will use, via Nortel, I think, should see connection above the current OC256 plateau, (which is 256 Gbps). I cannot wait. But be sure to try the tweaks, first. This, more than likely, will fix you up.
