Modems QOS is set by your ISP. You can not uncap your modem by simply running some program on you computer. Here is the simple reason why you can no just simply hack in and change your QOS. You cable modem runs on TWO networks at the same time. There is a public side that you see. IE your IP address this runs out of the ethernet port on your modem. Then there is the privase side of your modem. There is anotehr IP address that is assigned on the RF side of you modem. This is usualy a class A 10.x.x.x based IP address. We all know 10.x.x.x addresses are not passed out on to the net. When you turn you cable modem online it broadcast out grabs the 10.x.x.x IP and then download a image file from a TFTP server sittin on the head end. This TFTP server is on the 10.x.x.x based network. The image file hold info like CPE, QOS ect. There is no was to gain access to this othere network. You can not access the image file on your modem because it sits on that 10.x.x.x network side. Just putting this info out there so people do not hopelessly wate there time like I did.
Sorry but you are wrong and here is why. There is a security flaw in Motorola surfboard and 3com sharkfins. When the techs were designing the modem it had to accept a config file from the ethernet side. So until that flaw is corrected by firmware it can be exploited. All that must be done is retrive the modems config file. Edit it to your liking, then change you computers ip address to the tftp server that the modem is downloading the file from change you gateway to the cable modem's ip address and use a tftp server to upload your hacked config file. Also I get 7mbits down and 4 up so
