"Cable Company's Speed Options"
The account manager at my local cable internet company told me, "Service quotes at this time are $49.99 for 512/128 or $39.99 for 128/128." How exactly do they limit the speed? Is it just within the modem or do they have a speed pinch somewhere else? If they are charging 10 extra dollars just for a better modem I could buy a better modem on eBay, pay for their 128/128 access, and just not use theirs right? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
