"XP- Almost no Connection"
My connection to the internet is almost non existant. If I ping a web site I have over 50% packet loss. I am running Windows XP. However, if I hook up my Windows 98 machine my connection runs fine. I have a feeling there is a setting of some kind in XP that is preventing a full connection. Some kind of firewall. Any ideas?

XP has a built-in firewall. I can't remember the details but I know it can be disabled. Might check microsoft.com for more info on how to disable it.

To see if your Firewall is activated, Click "Start"...(from desktop),"Control Panel".....Dbl click "Network Connection"....Dbl click "Local Area Connection"....then from the Local Area Connection Status window under the General Tab, click "Properties"...then the Advanced Tab, and you will then see your Fire Wall Status that you can change at will.....
Hope this helps....
