"2 Cable modems"
I'd like to connect a second computer to my current cable connection. I don't want to get a router because I don't want wires running all over the place. Can I just purchase a second cable modem, install it to the cable jack in my room, and share the same connection that I'm already using?

1. "RE: 2 Cable modems"
if you do that then you will have to pay your ISP for 2 modems which will double the cost.

If you don't want wires running around why not buy a wireLESS router? problem solved and it will only be a one time fee for the router instead of paying monthly to your ISP for a second connection.
