"Question On Splitting Internet"
I have a USB Cable Modem that provides me with highspeed internet. There is an Ethernet port on the back of the modem itself which is in use with another computer. I have had no problems with this setup, however I am adding another computer to my home, and I was wondering if I could simply split the ethernet connection. I don't care about sharing files, only my internet connection, so I looked for something new I could use, and I stumbled upon this...

Would this work?

Kyle-

This would work for you as long as you are paying your ISP for 2 ip addresses. Otherwise only one computer will be able to get on the internet.

I would suggest looking into a router.

Do yourself a favor and pick up a decent router and connect directly to your cable modem and to your pc`s from the router. Be sure you have the lan/ethernet function enabled in the bios and if you are using a lan built on to your mobo, there is likely to be a lan driver you also need, probably on your mobo driver disk. Use a good quality cat5 cable. "00"
