"Potential Comcast customer"
I am planning on moving into an apartment complex in Napa, CA (North SF Bay area) in a couple months. I'm coming from a location where residential terrestrial broadband of any sort was not available. The apartment complex is under construction. I've heard conflicting information on whether cable modem service is available, but I'm thinking it SHOULD be available. I'd like to ask anyone that may have a clue what they think of the possibility. I've been told that Comcast provides cable modem service in Napa. I tried to ask Comcast (phone support) if it would be available and they didn't know. I ran into a Comcast installation contractor and he mentioned he didn't know much about cable modem service, all he knew is that Comcast does have that service in some areas. He did know that the fiber optics/coax bridge point would be right outside my building and that point would service the 200 units of the complex that is currently under construction. Given this info, should I be able to safely assume cable modem service should be available? If so, does anyone know the speeds available from Comcast in Northern California? Is it a tiered system (different speeds available depending on how much you want to spend)? What is the bandwidth of their backbone connection?
