I have connected my modem directly to my computer and my speed is 147. When it goes through the router it is about 7!!!!! I don't have any clue on what i should do!!! SOME ONE PLZ HELP!!!!lol

it shouldn't have anything to do with the router. Check to see if there are any firmware upgrades on the router.

Are these actual speeds or just through speed tests? Speed tests are very unreliable depending on congestion, time of day, etc.

I've got same problem, 2 laptops with wireless router. My (primary) laptop runs fast most of the time, other times , like right now, slow as dialup. Doesn't make a differenct if other laptop is on or not, but runs fine all the time if router is bypassed.

Same problem here. I have 4 fairly new computers 3 are wireless, the old wired one works best the 2 new laptops are only 3 months old. I think it may be link/sys problem. I was told by an installer that they have more problems with link/sys than with any other routers. I allso have Aol with timewarener which does not help.
I seen to allso get discounted alot and my wireless signal to the router gets lost.

wireless,, if you are having speed problems only on the wireless ones, it seems that you do not have a clean connection from the router to the computers. Certain Microwaves and 2.4Ghz cordless phones can and do interfere with the connection, which would cause a slowdown. The location of the router could be bad. Try moving the router around. Make sure the antenna's are tight on the router and wirless cards. Make sure the router isn't located to closely to a cordless phone base (the charger/base part), or too close to a microwave. Sit the notebook right next to the wireless router, does the speed increase?
Its like when you are on a cordless phone and you hear static. When the wireless internet connection gets static, it slows (or even cuts off) the connection. You may even show a good connection on the computer, but if the source of noise (microwave, etc) is stronger than the router, then the wireless card can't distinguish between the noise and the router's signal.
