"AOL Instant Messenger"
Going from dial-up to broadband cable. Using Motorola SB5100 cable modem & BR700 router. Heard that firewall will prevent some apps (like Instant Messenger) from running unless the router is UpNP capable.

I currently have an AOL account but never use it. I do use IM however (on 3 pc's). I've been told that using IM does not require an AOL account.

Does anyone have any experience with IM over broadband cable (without using broadband AOL)??

Thanks in advance for any help...
