"unable to connect to cable modem via ethernet"
Via Usb connection it works correctly, but i want to connect 2 computers to a cable modem(motorola 4200e), one via USB and another via ethernet but i cant
connect any computer via ethernet, What should I do step by step to do it? Thanx a lot

Im pretty sure you can only connect one way. Either through usb or ethernet. If you want to connect more than one computer buy a router and connect multiple pc's, labtops through the ethernet.

You are trying to do an either or...you cannot do both.

as suggested above look into routers if you want more than one computer on at a time.

you are able to connect through both if you read the manuel it tells you how, it says to use a crossover network cable, here is the link to diagram and booklet look at page 40

Make sure you have the ethernet/lan enabled in your bios set up. Second, an on motherboard lan connection usually requires a driver that is most likely on the driver disk for your mobo. These are essential for you to connect the modem to the lan thru the cat5 cable. Happy hunting.
