"wireless router lock-ups"
Hello,

I was hoping someone can help me with a problem with a Siemens SpeedStream SS2624 (version 2) wireless router. The scenarios are listed below:

1. With PC (Dell Optiplex GX1) turned off, the router stays connected to RoadRunner and never locks-up.
2. With PC off and connecting to the router with a PDA with CF card, router stays connected and never locks-up.
3. With PC on running either W98, XP Pro or Red Hat 7.2, router will eventually lock-up and lose connection to RoadRunner. It does this when connecting to the router through either the integrated network card , the PCI net card or a wireless USB connection.

I have cloned the MAC address of the PC and have also used the configuration wizard to do the setup. Do you have any ideas on what I could try to resolve the lock-ups? The router has been upgraded to the latest firmware.

Thanks for your help,
Mark

I am not too familiar with your router but I will try to offer some advice. How do you quantify under 1&2 that the router stays connected and never locks up? If no bandwidth is passing through your router/modem how can you tell?

Could be a faulty modem or router, have you tried connecting directly and bypassing the router?

Also, you do not always need to clone the mac address of the computer. RR allows up to 5 different mac addresses, you could try taking that off. Just powercycle the modem and router before connecting.
