I was looking around...and i saw some cable modem tweakers, accelerators. At first i ddint' want to mess around with my comp, so idecided why not ask professionals. Is this legal? how do i do it? what does it do exactly?

If you are thinking of altering the cable modems bandwidth limiting, that is stealing. You should try some registry tweaks. I would not use a tweaking program but instead do them manually. It is very simply and can dramatically increase speeds. One site is www.speedguide.net or for just the key tweaks go to www.dslreports.com there you can also test your speed to judge the effects of the tweaks...

The registry tweaks are perfectly legal, in fact, my RR installer took the liberty of installing them for me!

These tweaks don't increase your maximum bandwidth, but rather, ensure that you actually acheive it. Windows 9x TCP/IP defaults are optimized for slow 28.8 modems.

In my case, the Cable-modem.net speed test indicatses 708Kb downloads without the tweaks, and 1800Kb with them. These results have been consistent each time I've gone back and forth between installing/uninstalling the tweak -- Big difference!

Is there a way to steel bandwidth the illegal way like uncap your modem or something?

where can i find a place that tells me how to manually chnage stuff around to get 1800kbs downloads rather than 700k downloads?
