i just signed up for optimum online. after i got my modem by ups, i connected all of the things that were needed... even the cable line... but when it gets to the 3 lights: receive, send , and online, it only gets to the receive light... after that, the send light keeps on blinking, and then loses connection again and it goes back to the beginning of the process... can someone please help me???thanx

your either talking about a sb3100 or 4100 modem. the lights that you stated indicate a problem with your cable signal. if you had got to online. it might be an issue with provisioning of the modem for a specific cmts. call a cable company. say you have no t.v. when they come out unplug your t.v and have them check your line for your modem completely then your t.v

Something is blocking the return path. Here's one rule of thumb:No more than 3 splitters between you and the pole. Another, make sure your modem is on the lowest loss leg of the splitter.Here's how to tell if the problem is in your house or on the drop and mainline: Take the modem out to where the line from the pole attaches to your house, unhook it from the ground block and hook it straight up to the modem. If the send light does not go solid, your not getting return from the drop or mainline. Call for a tech. If it does go solid, there is a problem with the line to your modem, or one of the other lines is generating noise that blocks return.
