"Cable Internet w/ Amplifiers/Splitters"
Hi,

I've booked an appointment to get Cable Internet into my house but I have a few questions I'm hoping you guys can answer.

A) Because I cannot have any holes drilled in the house, I need to have two splitters or amplifiers installed. One would have to be installed on the main line and the other in the room where the computer is. The amplifier claims to have 7dB gain per output and the splitter claims it has 7.5db per output. Which is better to use?

B) Also, will the configuration below work out?

A splitter on the incoming line of my house, outputting to three jacks throghout the house. The splitter has 7.5db per output and 4 outputs. I go up to the room where one jack is and use another 2-output splitter where i plug the line coming from the basement splitter to the 2-output splitter, then my T.V. set to one output and then my cable modem to the other. The 2-output splitter also claims 7.5db per output.

Will this work out or will I still need a hole drilled into my basement? Thanks for any help provided.

Just remeber this.. If you need an amp it must have 2 way capabilities. Your modem works with a down stream and an upstream and they need to have the levels to spec.....

Below is a copy of a email that was just sent to CALL 3. Please email them and let them know your problems with AT&T!
Here is the link to them: http://www.thekcrachannel.com/call3/emailcall3/

AT&T broadband has oversold its capacity for its current system and hopes no one will notice. Nodes that are only supposed to have 50 users are over populated with more than 250 users. This problem affects all of the Sacramento valley area.

Everyone continues to shrug the issues.

So - what exactly can we do?

The problem with AT&T is that they won't come out and admit that they made a mistake and have a problem on their hands. They're SUCH a huge company that they have major communication problems.

What can we do about the poor network performance?

We are not getting what we have paid for! The service is awful - You can not download your mail, you can not vpn into work and you can not play any online games. About they only thing you can do is page flip - even that will time out at times... Download movie trailers - no, Download mail - no, Nothing.

Please let everyone know about these issues. Customers will be disappointed when the sign up for service with AT&T Broadband - AT&T will not tell you about the problem!
